Charity is generally the practice of giving help to those who are in need. Today, a lot of non-profit organizations foundations have charitable purposes. They usually hold fund raisers to donate funds to other groups or to support other organizations or to raise funds for their own charitable events.

Fund raisers are generally those events or sales which are designed to collect some funds or funding for a school, a charity, a church, a community or other groups. Some of the kinds of fund raisers would include product sales and special events. A lot of fundraising events ask for donations, while there are those which require a specified amount for the sale of a product or a service or even for access or participation to an event.

Here are some of the ways that a charity event or a fund raiser can be held.

1. Many groups usually choose to sell various products for their fund raising events. Almost any product can be used to raise funds such as soaps, cookies and other food items, candles, shirts, magazines, books and many others. Even small items such as discount cards, phone cards and coupon books are used as they do not require storage space. Some other unique and unconventional items which are used to raise funds would be plants, coffee, posters and organic products. There are also those that sell first aid kits as well as kids’ identification cards.

2. There are also some groups who, instead of selling products, collect used items such as ink and toner cartridges, old newspapers and other recyclable materials and then redeem them for cash.

3. Fund raisers can also be done through events that offer some kind of service. The most common that are used would include car washes, bake sales and even babysitting services.

4. Some fund raisers also combine the idea of selling products and services. An example of such a charity event would be selling personalized letters like Valentine love letters or Christmas letters to Santa.

5. There are also some fund raising events that hold raffles or auctions for the benefit of a charity or a non-profit organization. Some musicians also choose to hold concerts with the proceeds donated to a group or a cause that they are supporting.

6. Another way to hold a fund raising event would be to hold various types of activities such as a marathon and a bowling, golf or some other sports tournament. These events usually ask for an entrance fee, and a certain portion of the generated income is used as funding for a charity or a school or a non-profit group.

7. Some other creative ways to hold a fund raising event would be through seasonal events such as Christmas dinners, Thanksgiving plays or summer sports fests. These events would usually ask for an entrance, with the proceeds used for a certain charitable activity.
